Building An Author Platform

It’s actually important to start thinking about this before you send your book in to be formatted. You’ll want to include links for your website, social medias, and reader magnet / mailing list in your formatted book, even your very first book. It’s never too early to start collecting fans, and if you wait you’ll only miss the opportunity to bring people to the places you want them to sign up! But you can only do this if you’ve got those accounts and sites set up before you send the manuscript to your formatter, otherwise they may charge a fee to go back and put them in later. You don’t necessarily have to have them fully decked out with tons of content and blog posts, but you do want them functional and at least presentable to new readers.

  • Bluehost Website Tutorial – A tutorial I put together to help you get your WordPress website up and running easily.
  • Learn 5 Goodreads Site Secrets to Sell More Books – A Webinar that Alessandra Torre runs periodically. It will show you the best ways to use the site to get your books in front of readers, without wasting time with things that don’t work. 85 Million Readers find, review, and recommend books on Goodreads – it holds amazing opportunities for your novels! She’ll show you ways to get your book’s information in front of thousands of readers who are looking for their next read.
