Creative Inspiration

One of my biggest challenges as a writer has always been having confidence in my ideas and words. I didn’t write for a long time because I was sure it was all terrible. Then a few years ago I found this video and something clicked for me: it’s ok for your first works to be less than stellar. In fact, that’s to be expected. We have to work to build our skills up before we can produce a masterpiece, and the only way to build those skills is to actually do the work. That meant that if I was serious about being a writer I needed to push through the feelings that my book was no good and just write it anyway. I’m still working on confidence, and I still occasionally rewatch this video. I wanted to share it because it was so helpful to me and I’m sure others will find it inspirational.
